Little Bee is an amazing read that captures the heart of the reader. Although the book itself is not based 100% on a true story, there are some parts that are said to have been inspired by a true story and the author?s personal experience.
The book is based on the true story of Manuel Bravo from Angola. In 2001, he fled to England and asked to be granted an asylum as he and his family had been prosecuted in Nigeria for political reasons, and if they returned, they would be killed. Thus, it was a matter of life and death, literally. It took Britain four years to come to a decision, and in 2005, Manuel Bravo and his son were arrested and put into an Immigration Removal Center. Don't miss out! It's highly recommended.
