What kind of God would send his own Son to die? Jesus: The Unique God takes that ancient question seriously and arrives at an answer most readers will not expect: The Father did not send another to the cross. He went himself. Working from the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament and using the names of God in their original form--Yahweh, Elohim, the Set-apart Spirit--the book argues that Jesus and Yahweh are not two divine persons but one divine identity made knowable in two modes.
